Trusted Leadership backed by Experience

I have dedicated my career to protecting lives, developing strong deputies, and serving Hubbard County with integrity and professionalism. As the Sheriff, I would seek to continue that mission by leading with experience, leadership, transparency, and a steadfast commitment to public safety.

Being born and raised in Park Rapids, community engagement is essential to building trust and strengthening our partnership with the people we serve. As the sheriff, I would listen to our residents and be present in their daily lives as it helps us address concerns before they become problems. By staying connected and involved, we create a safer, more unified community for everyone.
Hubbard County is where I live and raise my family.

As sheriff, my core values would continue to be GOD, family, integrity, accountability, and service to the community. Every decision I make is guided by the belief that protecting and saving lives must always be our top priority. I will always uphold the constitution and protect your rights.

As sheriff, my core values would continue to be GOD, family, integrity, accountability, and service to the community. Every decision I make is guided by the belief that protecting and saving lives must always be our top priority. I will always uphold the constitution and protect your rights.
By leading with these values, we strengthen public trust and ensure our department is committed to the safety of every resident.
I have had the great pleasure of helping hire nearly half of the current deputies working for the Sheriff's Office. I have aided in field training those same deputies. We have sought out men and women who are morally sound, family focused deputies who are fair and eager to make Hubbard County better.
Leadership is about building relationships with the men and women in the Sheriff's Office. I have built strong relationships with the corrections officers, county attorney's office, court house personnel, communication officers, and patrol divisions of the office. I lead from the front, setting an example for others to follow. I will continue to build relationships with local and surrounding agencies.
Integrity, fairness, understanding and accountability are attributes I will continue to uphold in the office and community.
Experience is not free, you have to earn it. It only comes from working important cases, doing search warrants, helping people, solving problems and investigating crimes. I have investigated homicides, officer involved shootings, sex crimes, kidnappings, drug possession and sales, thefts, and burglaries. I have used this 23 years of experience and advanced the Sheriff's Office forward in training and knowledge.
Proven experience as the sheriff is extremely important because when the next tragedy hits one of our homes where the Sheriff's Office is needed, we want a strong, experienced leader keeping the peace. I will bring that peace to Hubbard County.

I have experience and knowledge of our Sheriff's Office budget. As the Sheriff, I would start the first day already understanding how and why the budget functions for the entire office. I have managed, changed, and saved money in this budget. Being a supervisor in the office and working daily with our budget has given me unmatched experience to continue providing public safety with accountability.
I have 23 years of law enforcement experience. I have been a sergeant, supervising deputies for over 11 years. I have supervised over 60 deputies during my time as a sergeant and field trained over 40 deputies and officers.

The Sheriff's Office built a new records management system (RMS). This was an essential, 2 year project that was needed to integrate inmate housing, jail operations, emergency center communication, fire and EMS activation, and patrol deputy report management. I assisted with the building, design, and initiation of this software system. This has increased efficiency, fluidity of information, and accountability through tracking abilities for all departments within the Sheriff's Office.
I have worked hard over my career to build strong relationships with surrounding deputies and administrations.
I have been endorsed to be the next Hubbard County Sheriff by:
- Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes
- Beltrami County Sheriff Jason Riggs
- Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander
- Wadena County Sheriff Mike Carr Jr.
- Wadena County Sergeant Bryan Savaloja
- Community/Victim Impact letter - Angie K.- I investigated a crash where her family member was killed by an intoxicated driver. "I believe Sergeant Petrie will lead the Sheriff’s Office with integrity, strength, and empathy. That he will fight to keep our roads safe, support victims and their families, and work tirelessly to prevent DUI-related tragedies. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly support Sergeant Tony Petrie for Sheriff."
Thank you to the Hubbard County deputies for endorsing me and trusting me to be your next Sheriff.
I am the only candidate for Hubbard County Sheriff with truly local roots and interests. I was born and raised in Park Rapids and continue to live here in Hubbard County. My lifelong commitment to this community and the Sheriff’s Office is personal. The entire Sheriff's Office and the people we serve are extremely important to me and my family. I am dedicated to protecting and supporting this community for years to come.

Community involvement and building strong relationships between our office and the community are very important to me. I enjoy talking with kids and community members at special events. I participate in community events and panels on a weekly basis in Hubbard County. Community Service and engagement will remain important to me and the sheriff's office into the future.

I have the privilege of helping organize the Night to Unite. This event is very important to our Sheriff's Office as we look forward to this every year. We enjoy our great relationship with the community and can not wait for the next one.

Community and school engagement is essential to build early, strong relationships with our youth. Deputy Lucas Kritzeck and I met with the Park Rapids wrestling team.
This was a special moment for us, as I wrestled for Park Rapids wrestling team in middle school and Lucas wrestled through high school and into college.

I was blessed to meet my wife Amy in Park Rapids High School and we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year. We own a local taxidermy business and also a property management company. Our family attends Faith Bridge Church in Park Rapids. Our boys participate in AWANA.
My parents (Doug and Kim Petrie) and Amy's parents (Rick and Audrey Zeller) also grew up and live in Park Rapids.

Our 5 children are blessings for our family. We have 3 daughters, ranging from 24 years old to 22 years old. We have two boys that are 10 and 11 years old that we homeschool. We were foster parents for over 10 years, fostering over a dozen kids from all ages. GOD blessed us with these 5 wonderful kids as we finished our fostering chapter in life and created our forever family.

We enjoy family trips with cousins to our local hunting cabins in Nevis and near Itasca Park. I value time with family and building memories. As the Sheriff I would continue to embrace family values and courage through faith.
"Father, thank you for my family. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Guide our steps and keep us united in faith." Joshua 24:15

Thank you for your support and for standing behind this campaign. I truly appreciate it and look forward to seeing you soon.
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
